Poachers Patch is a caravan and camping site in the village of Brant Broughton in Lincolnshire with easy access from the A17. The site is on the South end of the High Street in Brant Broughton and is set back from the road. Poachers Patch is a 4.5 acre flat, long meadow bordering the Sandbeck stream to our South and the River Brant to our East. We are 10 miles from the A1 and 0.5 miles from the A17.
The meadow is divided into two paddocks, 3 acres for camping or caravan rallies and 1.5 for a 5 hook-up certified caravan site with The Camping and Caravanning Club. If you have yet to join this can be arranged on site.
We have a fire pit for camp fires with logs provided at £5 per wheelbarrow load and a decked picnic area with a goldfish pond and summer house. There is also a bird watching hut where barn owls have been seen often.
Course Fishing on the River Brant can be arranged on request with swims of Chub 1 mile down river. Near the weir it is 2 meters deep and the swans can be protective of their young so this form of pleasure is not for the faint hearted!
The local public house, The Generous Briton does food and has a take-away menu and is 600 yards from us. Opposite the Generous is Alan Bradley's butchers shop which also sells eggs, milk and general grocery. Beckfield Nursery is opposite the site and has lots of fresh veg and extensive selection of plants for the garden.
St Helen's Church has a 300 foot spire, so is a useful land mark to let you know you are close to the site. The church was built in the 13th century and has a 4 star rating in Britain's 1000 best churches which puts it in the top 100. Brant Broughton also has a 17th century Society of Friends (Quaker) Meeting House and a charming Methodist chapel, they all welcome visitors.
Buses run to both Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln from the village bus stop 500 yards from Poachers Patch.
